Makan_10: Amoy Sreet Boon Kee Prawn noodles

I'm thinking of starting a new series on random food for lunch, dinner, meals at any time. In Polaroid pictures with date and time (but there will be exceptions at time). I know... boh liao right?

Got my inspiration from this Japanese blog, she blogs about what she eats everyday and her pictures are so pretty and appetizing. Anyway, let's see how long this series last and it will be named makan_10 and... bon appetite!

It's one of the best prawn noodle. Soup is thick and rich. There's always a long queue unless you go around 1:20pm... but be prepared for the noodle to be sold out. The chili padi basket was almost empty and we scraped  every bit of chili to go with our noodles.

Ta daa! My nails over CNY period. Yes, I know I spoke of eating paint off my nails and so on but when CNY is around the corner, pedicure is being done and the place is nice and relaxing and not all pushy, I said, "I also want pretty fingernails... so yes, manicure it is!"

Took awhile to get use to the colour and having colours on my nails ( last manicure was for my wedding 2.5 years ago) but I got used to it and started to enjoy watching my nails tap tap over the key pads and holding on railing in train.

Just remove it earlier today, lasted 9 days, edge starts to peel and hubby spoke out my fear whilst I was enjoying my pineapple tarts and such. ".... stop licking your fingers, paint - toxic...."

CNY: Ang Pows

CNY takes on a new meaning for me in 2008, because that's the first year that I started giving out ang pows. And in order to "motivate" my inner child to be more enthusiastic about CNY (visitations of long distance relatives and boring sessions of meaningless chit chat), I started to buy cute ang pows for 2008 (rat) & 2009 (ox). And yes, it's a waste of money but some of them were really cute! Like Mickey Mouse for the year of Rat.

Surprisingly, CNY became a little more interesting for me. Maybe it's my inner auntie screaming out or maybe because CNY visitations has been streamlined and I'm no longer required to face meaningless people and endure the visits that I feel are a waste of time.

Instead, I only visit people that means something to me and when I have to go to places where I have no idea how to occupy the time ahead, I change my mindset and try to find alternative entertainment there. Maybe it's also because I'm getting older and values the fading traditions and family. Being a wife too also has added roles.

So, I hope this year will be fun and lovely and no, I didn't have to spend a single cent on Ang Pows this year as everything is FREE! yay!

Cocoa Tiger from BreadTalk

I mentioned before in this post that I wanted the try the Cocoa Tiger from BreadTalk and I did!

The fillings taste like a mix between Japanese Soy Bean and Lotus with chocolate in it. 

I like it and wouldn't mind eating it again (if BT still sells it tomorrow). SGD $1.60. And because it cost $1.60, my hubby only bought me one for photo taking cum makan. heh.

SINGAPORE: The postman will stop collecting and delivering mail on Saturdays from the middle of this year.  From May 15, SingPost will scale back collection and delivery due to falling mail volumes from changes in lifestyle and mailing habits.  It will collect and deliver from Mondays to Fridays, and will extend collection by an hour on Fridays.  SingPost said the public mail volume has declined by 22 per cent between 2002 and 2009.  It attributed the decline over the years to the emergence of new communication tools such as email, SMS and other technological platforms.  On average, a person posts only six letters or cards per year. In addition, many companies and organisations are now operating on a five-day week, resulting in less mail on Saturdays.

It makes sense to let the postman have a 5 days work week.... but deliveries on Saturdays are important when you subscribe to video rentals :(

No more Starbucks Passport!

I went to 2 Starbucks today hoping to get a new passport for cheaper frappacino grande drink. $36 for 6 medium sized drinks (usual $7 or so per cup). But I was told that they have discontinued the card and are coming out with the US version of point card system.

Hubby thinks that they are losing money with the passport. ;(

I am grouchy because it's the end of a good deal.
