Makan_11: cafe epicurious

such a happy entrance :)

Eggs Benedict

Baked Eggs with Toast Soldiers

Choc- nana Sandwich

I'm on a quest to try out all cafes in Singapore. Well.. at least those that are listed on ironladychef. When I did a last count, I was surprised to find that I have ate at at least 10 in the list of Best Cafe in Singapore!

Heheh. I dragged hubby to cafe epicurious at The Rail Mall for brunch. The food was pretty good, but the coffee was just so so.

Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tide Gala Premiere

I was so excited that the tickets hubby won was for a premiere gala and the grand opening ceremony for Lido! Since he couldn't make it, I went with SY on Monday (16/5) and it was GREAT!!!

We enjoyed the show ( and were feeling very smug that we got to watch it before US and Sg premiere 20/5 and 19/5 respectively) and saw a few celebrities, mainly Thomas Ong who was my childhood/ adolescent idol. *swoon :)

Great experience!

Changes in cabinet

1 week after the GE, 3 key ministers have stepped down from the cabinet. George Yeo cos his GRC lost to WP. Then our MM LKY and SM GCT both decided to resign citing allowing the PM to be free of the old PAP's shadows (something like that).

Well, it's not a bad thing for retirement.. Just too many changes within a short time.

Is this good or bad?

The most exciting period in Singapore's history

The polling results are being telecast live on almost all channels and we are eagerly anticipating and waiting for the results. Gosh our current ruling party won many seats (currently 31 seats) by very small margin! Mostly 50-58%, (about 8% each) much lesser than the average 66% (16%) in 2006.

@00:55
Finally! One win! Opposition WP won Hougang by huge margin! 64.81%
More than 14%. They sacrificed their upgrading needs for national voice.
But they have always been under the opp party.

More waiting now. I'm very sleepy but trying to tahan.

Positive words

"Do you have doubts about life? Are you unsure if it is really worth the trouble? Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person's face as you pass them on the street: those faces are for you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all these things are for you. They are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing. Stand up and face the east. Now praise the sky and praise the light within each person under the sky. It's okay to be unsure. But praise, praise, praise."

Static and changes

The GE could be a potentially devasting events. People lives could change for better or for worse. Families and friendships could end up on different spectrums as the debates goes on.

I could not remember the last time when I had an indepth discussion about politics or opinions or anything so "heavy" with anyone other then hubby. Mostly I steered away from these discussions. When opinions are not expressed correctly , it leads to misinterpretations.

I try to "talk less".

This time I observed the social and cultural phenomenum that has overtaken Singapore by storm. Something has changed, people are not afraid of speaking out and declaring their support for the opposition.

I was initially excited as it was going to be my "virgin" vote but further checks online shows that our estate belongs to Tanjong Pagar GCR. My inital excitement fizzles but we attended another rally last night near our estate.

Honestly I would be stressed if I had to vote. Much as I would like to have a change, I'm also fearful of too much changes and risking our country's stability. My one vote in 2.2 million odds is very small but that one vote could ignite a change. Everyone makes a difference.

Anyhow, that "stress" has been lifted.
On a fun note. I'm sharing this sticker we picked up yesterday.

It's based on the impression that GST has been increasing after every elections. It's very tongue in cheek and being a rally virgin, I get amused , amazed and entertained easily.

I'm very happy to be sharing my life with you. You constantly open my eyes to so many issues and perspectives.

Pondering

Lots of voices and change coming up in this current GE. News reporting has never been this current and honest. It is getting exciting and though I'm looking forward to change, I'm still afraid of too much changes and failures.
Isn't this how life is? How we get held back because of fear?

The shadow in the picture

She was too pretty to resist. I had to buy the postcard from Cat Socrates. Then I took a picture of the picture.
